SUPing for Hen Groups in Brighton

What’s SUP?

SUP, or Standing Up Paddle Boarding, is an increasingly popular activity that many are finding addictive, fun, great for fitness and balance, relaxation and solace.

With increasingly amounts of Instagram hashtags of paddle boarders, SUP is very much on its way to becoming a ‘thing’, not least for its social media coverage and celebrity SUP endorsees such as Jennifer Aniston super model Cindy Crawford, 007 veteran Pierce Brosnan and Formula one champ-turned-hip-hop-star, Lewis Hamilton, are all up and out on the waters via the Stand Up Paddle Boarding phenomenon. A fantastic exercise for your core, balance and smaller reactionary muscles, stand up paddling boarding is said to burn more calories per half hour than two to three hours’ surfing.

Why Standing Up Paddle-Boarding?

SUP is becoming increasingly popular is due to its possibilities and accessibility to nearly everyone.
Even though your training conditions may be on calm waters, whether you’re on the open water or not, there a few introductory tips to a safe experience to Stand Up Paddle Boarding. For those hens that feel a little nervous about trying something new, don’t worry, nearly everyone will be a newbie, too, and this is what makes activity days like this so memorable and special between groups of Hens.

Hove Lagoon is the perfect environment.

  • You can stand up at any point
  • Full training is provided
  • By qualified instructor
  • High quality equipment is used
  • And we know it is all about having fun, learning and staying safe.

A few safety tips any way.

Partner up – Always

Having a buddy with you, no water the conditions, can ensure your safety, no matter the conditions. As much as it may seem a good idea to go out alone, it never is. This also enriches any mishaps as a learning experience between the both/group of you and your experience as a paddle boarder-extraordinaire. Hen Party Brighton’s SUP group tuition will stress this and you will be supervised in your activity at all times.

Leash

A safety leash is for your own good, and many ignore this advice. The Leash keeps you with your board at all times so you don’t loose your board, it can act as flotation if you are in trouble or tied.

Wear a buoyancy aid !

Weather
Conditions are notoriously changeable here on the glorious South Coast. Whilst we at Hen Party Brighton are fully experienced, the lagoon we use to train SUP groups is free from tide and undercurrents making it one of the best all round places to try Stand up Pedal Boarding for the first time.

For the more experienced Paddle Boarders, a waterproof case for your phone should be a must, along with checking the daily forecast. Your phone can be used as GPS, for emergencies, and to photograph the beautiful scenery.

At Hen Party Brighton our SUP packages begin from £43.50 for 2 hours, and there is also chance for up to 8 Hens to attempt to steer our extra-large Paddle Board – a fantastic photo opportunity to mark the day’s exciting events.
